The Kiddos

This is a normal scene at our house in the mornings when Brynlee actually wakes up before the boys leave for school.

Yes, Harlee is having chocolate pudding for breakfast. This is what happens when you have had a sick little one all week and let's all remember that she is 2 and there isn't much negotiating to be done with any 2 year old. Don't worry, this isn't a normal breakfast for her. She usually has a bowl of cereal.

Brynlee Lost a Tooth

Brynlee has had 3 loose teeth for over a month now. She doesn't like to wiggle them much but she can't wait for them to fall out. She had one tooth on the bottom that was a little more loose than the other two. Today she was snacking on a whole cucumber which is a favorite snack of hers when all of a sudden she yelled, "Mom, my tooth fell out." She was so excited she didn't even care that it was bleeding. She took one bite and out popped that tooth. She put her tooth on her nightstand and can't wait to see what the tooth fairy leaves for her in the morning.

Mr. Winter Go Away

Take note of the date. This is what we woke up to this morning. Tomorrow will be May 1 and we got about 3 inches of snow this morning. Of course, it didn't stick around but it was wet and created enough mud to cause more baseball games to be canceled. You see, we can't have baseball go any further into the month of June than it already does. We have a vacation planned and this vacation invloves a National Dance Competition for Brynlee. I already informed Brett that I AM NOT GOING ALONE. Mr. Winter go away so Mrs. Summer can come out-PLEASE!!!!!

Poor Harlee

Poor Harlee has a double ear infection and a nasty cough to go along with it. :(
Get better soon sweet girl.
Oh yeah, and if Mother Nature would make up her mind we could get this baseball season rolling and not have to cancel anymore games. We woke up this morning to 37 degrees and snow falling. Bring on the warm weather-now!

Poetry Festival

McKade's class had a Poetry Festival today. Each kid in the class had to recite a poem in a group and then a poem on their own that they had hand picked and memorized. This is huge for McKade because he does not like to be the center of attention. He talked a little fast but he did extremely well. Every kid in the class had their poem memorized and only one girl needed a little help remembering. Have I said how much I love our school lately?

The Minis and Mazie

Here is a group shot of the Younger Mini's and Mazie. Mazie is an amazing dancer and these little girls look up to her. We had to do a goofy shot so we could get these girls to smile and have some fun before it was their turn to dance.

Bryn & Mazie

Mazie is one of the older girls on the team with Bryn. She has kind of taken her under her wing like an older sister. These pictures were taken by Mazie while we were waiting for the award ceremony to start after our competition in Logan. Everyone was antsy from being couped up inside the blazing hot gym all day so we all decided to hang outside for a little bit and enjoy the gorgeous weather. The little girls kept the big girls very busy. They had them running and flipping and teaching them how to do back handsprings. I just love these pictures.

The Bee's Game

We bought our family pass for The Bee's this year again. The weather was really warm for a couple of days so we actually got a chance to go to a game before June. We rushed home from Logan and headed out to watch the game. We thought they were going to lose but they scored 6 runs in the bottom of the 9th inning to come back and win the game. I can't wait to spend our summer nights at the ball park this year.

Utah Dance Fest 2010

Brynlee had another dance competition this weekend and this time it was in Logan. Denice volunteered to stay with the boys and Harlee so we ventured off to Logan with just the 3 of us. This was quite the treat for Brynlee. The dance competition was crazy. There were over 300 dances that were performed and we were there from 9:00 in the morning until 10:00 that night. We did have a short 2 1/2 hour break in the middle of the day so we were able to escape and grab some lunch and some fresh air. Brynlee's team did great. They got a gold for their "Love Shack" routine and a gold for their "Bust a Move". The ETR (Entire Team Routine) received High Gold, Best TEchnical Merit, Grand Champions Teen Division and Best Overall Production. We decided before hand that we would stay an extra night so we didn't have to drive home which was a good thing. It was nice to spend a little one on one time with Brynlee and I think it was good for her to have a little extra attention for the weekend. The kids had a blast with Denice-except for the swing incident and I am glad that we decided to have them stay home after all. We have a 4 week break before the next dance competition and then we are one step closer to Nationals in June-Yippee!!!!

Harlee

This is what Harlee did at the dance competition today. However, this only happened after she got upset at me because she didn't get a turn to "dance" and she got bored of the movie she had stopped and started over three times. Oh yeah, and she got caught drinking some drink sitting three bleachers down from us. We don't even know who it belonged to. She gets the "crazies" and then crashes wherever she lands. Oh how I love this little girl.

Competition Day

The day has finally arrived. This is the day that I have been waiting for. It took 5 years, 8 months and 24 days. Brynlee's 1st dance competition was today. The competition was at Salt Lake Community College and we were there from 8:15 this morning until 7:00 tonight. Because of some changes that the studio made this year, Brynlee's age group is able to perform in 3 dances at each competition. She does a Jazz, Hip Hop and and Entire Team Routine. The day was everything I had imagined it would be and I got the same familiar pit in my stomach anticipating her performances as I used to on a competition day. It's the one that makes you feel like you want to throw-up. I will spare the details on that one. Her team did very well for their first competition and walked away with three 2nd place finishes. Harlee kept telling me, "My dance by myself in my dance competition" and was really upset when the competition was over and she didn't get a chance to dance. We let her run around on the floor after the competition was over so she could "dance" for us. I have a feeling we may be in a bit of trouble with her because she is ready to compete like Brynlee already. The next competition is next weekend in Logan and I will have another update then. Way to go Salt City Stars!!!

Play Ball

The weather finally cleared up enough that both of the boys were able to play their first games tonight. I only snapped one picture and that was before they walked out the door. It was pretty nice outside until the sun went down and then it was just down right cold. Trevin's team lost by 10 points and McKade's team won by 10 points. I am glad we finally have the baseball season underway.

Happy Easter

Easter came and went and our holiday was packed full of food, candy, family and Easter egg hunts. We colored eggs on Saturday and filled all of the plastic eggs with candy for Sunday's festivities.

Easter morning came early. There were two little boys who didn't want to go to sleep so the Easter Bunny got creative and hid their stash in the bathtub. The looks on their faces were priceless when they realized that they should have gone to sleep after the 50th time we yelled at them.

We had breakfast with Pa and Joanie and a muddy Easter Egg Hunt and then headed over to Gram's house for dinner and another Easter Egg Hunt. It was a good day and we were so grateful that we could spend it with our families.

Silly Sleeper and a New Haircut

Harlee got a cute new haircut tonight. She has such curly, thin hair and it was way past time to get it trimmed. We called up our favorite hair girl and she cleaned Harlee's cute mop up again. She cut it in a short bob and her curls are even bouncier than ever. Harlee is so good to go and sit and get her hair cut. She just loves Lisa.

Every night when Brett and I come to bed we never know what to expect out of our crazy girl. It's almost like she's moving one minute and then the next she falls asleep. We have found her in some crazy positions at night but this one was the best. We almost couldn't stop laughing long enough to even take the pictures. She was so sound asleep that the three flashes from the camera didn't even phase her. I actually had to move her back onto her pillow when we were done taking her pictures.

President James A. Garfied

The 5th graders at our school worked on a huge project this year. One student from each class was assigned a President that they had to do research on. They had to write a timeline of their life and then type up a 4 page report based on their research. The group of 3 then had to put together an oral presentation which they did for the school-almost in the same way a museum is set up. I was able to sneak away from work for a few minutes on Tuesday to listen to Trevin's group. Trevin did awesome. He had his presentation memorized. Even the introduction that he had to give all in Spanish. He said that the Principal came around and listened to the presentations and then gave each student a rank in the class based on how well they did. Trevin was #5 in his class out of 24 kids. I am so happy this project is over but I am so glad he got to have this experience.

April Fool's and a Movie Day

Today was April 1-April Fool's Day. It was also the first day of Spring Break for the kids. However, this was what we woke up to this morning.

This was the perfect opportunity for a movie day so Terra and I took the kids to see "How to Train Your Dragon". I will admit that it wasn't a movie I was dying to see but it ended up being a great movie and the kids loved it. It was a good way to waste the day away.
