The Zoo

We finally had a break in the winter weather but it hasn't been extremely hot yet. I decided it was the perfect time to take the kids to the zoo. The boys haven't been in about 3 years. They all loved it. Harlee was so enthralled by the monkeys and the boys couldn't get enough of everything. It ended up being a slightly overcast day so it was perfect to get out and enjoy the Holiday. I don't think I have ever seen so many people at the zoo. I couldn't believe that everyone else had the same idea.

Random Pics

I snapped a few pictures of the girls this week just because they are so stinking cute.

Sad Day

We were invited to attend a team meeting tonight at Brynlee's dance studio for a big announcement. The director of our studio announced her retirement and the studio is closing. It was a really hard night. We are one big dance family and now we are breaking up. The girls are like sisters to Brynlee. We are going to try to keep as many of the girls together as possible but I don't know how easy that is going to be. We have a couple of possibilities that we are going to check out this week so stay tuned.

The pictures are of the night we were at the studio and the girls got a little crazy after all the tears had been shed. I introduced Brynlee and Erin to Ro and he was so sweet to them. He showed them the pictures he had on his phone of him with Zac Efron, Ashley Tisdale and VAnessa Hudgens and you should have seen Bryn's mouth drop to the floor-it was priceless. We had to go home and immediately watch High School Musical 3 to get a glimpse of the star we had just met.

Brynlee's Last Day of School

Today was Brynlee's last day of Kindergarten and it was a little bittersweet. She has had kind of a rough week knowing that she was at the end of the year. She was afraid that she would never see her amazing Kindergarten teacher again. This week they were able to spend some time in a 1st grade classroom and I think that helped calm her fears a little bit. She has definitely inherited my love of reading. That girl is always walking around with a book in her hand. Her favorites right now are "Junie B. Jones". I can't believe how much she has grown and learned this year. Good Bye Kindergarten.

Snow in May

I know that it happens ever year but this time it was the latest time we have had measurable snowfall and man did it come down. It melted as soon as the sun came out but it's the end of May and this is ridiculous.

Last Day of Preschool

Today was Harlee's last day of pre-school. I can't believe how fast the year has gone by. She has learned so much this year. She can write her name and recognize quite a few letters of the alphabet. She will be going back to the same school in the fall and luckily she gets the same teacher again. We love Sunshine Square!

Stars Team 2010

Here is a picture of most of the girls from Bryn's dance studio and the other picture is of their amazing teachers. The guy in the pictures choreographed the older girl's hip hop routines. He choreographed and was in High School Musical 2 and 3 and has some amazing talent. The hip hop routines that the older girls did were awesome.

My 5 Minutes of Fame

Not really but proof that I am not as old as I feel sometimes. At the dance competition they had a toe touch and turn contest for the parents. Terra and I were in and worked on recruiting some of the other moms from our studio. I couldn't believe after 15 years I could still do a toe touch without injuring something. I didn't win the toe touch contest but one of the other moms from our studio did. I can still do a pirouette like it was 1993 and I did win that contest. Salt City Stars Rock!!! It's so awesome to know that after 15 years you don't forget. It was like getting back on a bicycle. The parents are working on a dance for the year end show and Nationals so I am sure I will have pictures and videos of that soon.

Stars North Region 2010 Competition and Brett's Birthday

Today was North Region Competition at Taylorsville High School and it was also Brett's birthday. We got to spend it watching our baby girl dance her butt off today. Our day started out early. The ETR was first and I thought it looked awesome. We had a few fumbles but no more than the other two teams in our category. Bryn's team was short one girls this weekend but they still looked awesome. At the end of the day they walked away with Platinum and High Point and Hip Hop Divas (Judges Specialty Award) for "Bust A Move", Platinum for "Love Shack" and Platinum for "Just Dance-ETR". OUr studio also won the Sportsmanship Award. The girls looked great and it was a fun day. Happy Birthday Brett-thanks for spending your birthday at the dance competition. You are an amazing father and husband and we love you very much.

Stars North Region Solo Competition

We haven't had a chance to go and watch the girls from our studio compete their solos this year. Since the competition was so close we decided to take the girls and watch them this time. They had so much fun hanging out with all their friends. The older girls from our studio are amazing and spend so much time taking care of the little ones and making sure they are entertained. Brynlee hasn't said too much about doing a solo yet and I hope that is the case for at least a couple more years.

Bee's Game

We finally had another day of nice weather so we took advantage of it and used our pass at The Bee's Game again. Harlee always looks for the Bee but she never wants to get too close to him. We happened to be walking right by on our way to our seats so we stopped for a quick picture.

Spanish Fork Dance Competition

Our girls had a dance competition in Spanish Fork this weekend. Because of baseball, Brett and the boys weren't able to make it to this one. Our girls did great and we walked away with a 1st, 2nd and 3rd place finish. The girls are looking better and better each time. Brynlee is loving being able to spend all this time with Erin and her new friends on the dance team. We laughed and giggled a lot this weekend but I was worn out at the end of the day. Looking forward to Stars North Region competition next weekend.

Girl's Night

We had a dance competition this weekend in Spanish Fork. Knowing that we would probably have to be there pretty early in the morning, Terra and I opted to share a hotel room and stay over Friday night. We ended up with adjoining rooms with one of the girls on Erin's team and her mom too. Her mom brought stuff to "bling" up their flip flops and turned it into a PJ Party/Craft Night. Too bad the people underneath us didn't like our party. We got a phone call telling us to be quiet and then someone pounded on our floor from underneath us. Oh well-we had fun anyway.

Brynlee's Oral Report

For their final project in school Brynlee had to choose an animal and learn everything about it and then make a poster with all the information and present it to the class. She chose a Bluebird. I helped her a little with the research and finding the pictures but she wrote everything and put it on the poster. She presented it to her class and did an awesome job. She is still very shy but she did great.

Brett's Trip to Chicago

Thanks to Brett's company, he was able to take a trip to Chicago for a work meeting. A couple of month's ago his department won a contest and had some money they had to spend as a group. Brett's life long dream was to see the Cubs play at Wrigley Field so he jumped at the opportunity. They were able to get some amazing tickets and Brett got to see the Cubs play the Florida Marlins at Wrigley Field. Let me just say I was more than jealous and hopefully one day we will be able to go back. He said it was one of the best experiences of his life and his dream has finally been fulfilled.

May's Happenings

I just realized that it's the 10th of May and I have yet to post for the month. Let's just say that life's activities have been ever consuming. Between baseball, dance, homework and me working things have been so crazy around here. We spent last week freezing our tushes off at the baseball field two nights in a row. We had to dig out the turtlenecks and pull the coats back out of the closets to watch a baseball game in May. Even with the gloves and the quilts we were still freezing. School is winding down for the year and I can't even tell you how much I am looking forward to a break from the homework every night. Brynlee and I are heading out this weekend to Spanish Fork for another dance competition and then we have Regionals next weekend and then on to National's from there. Yesterday we celebrated Mother's Day. I was able to do some shopping on Saturday afternoon and Brett and the kids surprised me with flowers and a gift certificate for a pedicure that I get to enjoy on Friday afternoon before our girl's weekend in Spanish Fork. The kids brought me breakfast in bed and then we spent the afternoon at the Park enjoying some gorgeous weather-finally. Don't worry though-the nice weather was short lived because it rained all day today and it's expected to rain all day tomorrow too. We topped the evening off with dinner with Brett's family. I am so grateful for the opportunity to be a mom. I have some pretty amazing kids who are very smart, talented and fun. Happy Mother's Day to all those moms out there!
