Princess Trees

Brynlee had a pink tree in her room for the last two years that my grandma gave to her. Last year half of the lights quit and Brett couldn't get them to work again. I told her we would pull it out, see if it worked and if not, we could go and buy another one. Harlee of course chimes in and said she needs a purple tree in her room. I didn't know how easy this would be. Thank goodness for Big Lots and a pink and purple tree that didn't break the bank. Perfect colors for my princesses rooms.

O Christmas Tree

Because we have two trees in the house, I decided this year I would actually let the kids decorate one of them. I know, I have a bit of OCD and like them to be perfect. Trevin didn't want to have anything to do with the decorating but the other 3 kids did. I didn't realize how much fun it would be for them. Harlee would hang one ornament up and then look at it, realize she didn't like it there and move it again. She did this over and over again. After the kids got all the ornaments hung McKade went back and made sure the tree looked good. It was a jammie day at our house and the kids loved it.

Happy Thanksgiving

This year for Thanksgiving we decided to spend it with my dad's side of the family who we don't get to see very often. We braved the drive in sub zero temperatures to Kaysville to my Uncle Jerry and Aunt Trish's house. The day was very enjoyable. There is nothing better than good food and good company. The kids had a lot of other kids to run around with and the adults entertained themselves with football, music and dancing. Happy Thanksgiving!

The Blizzard of 2010

Utah was under a blizzard warning today, this is something that hasn't happened in Utah as long as I can remember. We deal with snow all the time and it's no big deal. This time it was. I went to the store and stocked up on water, flashlights and some extras just in case. The kids were let out of school early and all extracurricular after school activities were canceled. I rented a few movies and we had chili for dinner. The blizzard came and went and only left about 3 inches of new snow on the ground. Granted, the wind did blow for a long time that night. In my opinion, we have seen far worse snow storms and nothing closes down. Just Sunday we woke up to 15 inches of new snow on the ground. Crazy Utah Weather. School was opened just like usual the next day and life goes on.

15 Years

Today Brett and I celebrated 15 years of marriage. The weather was much the same as it was the day we got married. It was 60 degrees the day we got married and because most of the trees still had leaves on them it looked like September. It has definitely been a roller coaster ride but I wouldn't change a thing. We celebrated with Taco Time for dinner and then plans for dinner over the weekend. Happy Anniversary-I love you!!!!

Brynlee's Presentation

Brynlee's teacher assigned a country for each of the kids to research. They had to find out the 5 senses of the country, find it on a world map, present a piece of culture for that country and do this in front of the whole class. Brynlee was given the country of Denmark. She did such a good job. She gave her presentation, we played the national anthem of Denmark and then she passed out Danishes for the whole class to taste. I love her teacher and I love their school!!!

Basketball

After football every year the boys usually play Jr. Jazz Basketball. This fills the void in time between football and baseball and its pretty low key and the boys have fun. This year we all needed a break from the crazy chaos of practice and waking up early on Saturday mornings to rush out the door to basketball games. Trevin came home and announced he was trying out for the Jr. High basketball team. Because their school goes through 9th grade they allow the 6th graders to try-out for the basketball team. Now basketball is definitely not his strongest sport but that kid went into it fully confident and worked his tail off. He showed that he wanted to be there. After two days of try-outs they posted the lists at lunchtime. I got a call from Trevin telling me he had made the team and that he was one of only three 6th graders that did make the team. I am so proud of him and his confidence and hard work. Now we are back to the crazy chaos of practices but no games on Saturday mornings.

Trevin's 12th Birthday

12 years ago at 4:58 pm we were blessed with our first baby. What a blessing he has been in our lives. He has definitely taught us patience and love. He amazes me every day. He is growing into quite the young man. He can't walk out the door to school in the morning without hugging and kissing me several times and reminding me how much he loves me. He does the same thing at bedtime. He's not afraid to walk up and give me a hug when he sees me at school. He doesn't care what others think and has grown very confident. I know that there is a reason he was sent to us as our 1st child. We love you so much Trevin, happy 12th birthday!

Utah Day and Jazz Game

Today was a day full of Utah games, football banquets and the Jazz Game. It was a big day for the University of Utah. They played TCU and it was the blackout game so we all dressed in our Utah attire. We got some free Jazz tickets for making a purchase at fans and it ended up on the same night as McKade's football banquet. Brett decided that I would take Trevin to the Jazz game and he would take McKade and the girls to the banquet. The Jazz game was awesome and they ended up going into double overtime before winning.

Fall

For Trevin's birthday this year he decided he wanted to have a small party. He invited four of his besties and we went to see "Megamind" at the movie theater. They all came over after and had pizza. They spent the majority of the night outside enjoying some unseasonably warm weather.

Incredible Pizza

Tonight was Trevin's football banquet. This year they had it at Incredible Pizza. It was a night filled with lasting friendships, good food and a lot of tears. It's hard to see the football season come to an end but these kids have built friendships that will last a lifetime!
