Cool School of the Week

Fox 13 news picks a "Cool School of the Week" every week throughout the school year and this week it was Hawthorn Academy. They wanted the kids at school at 6:00 in the morning and they just kind of hung out in between the live shots. Brynlee was excited but quickly got bored. Her old Kindergarten teacher took some of the younger kids to her class to hang out so they wouldn't be too out of control. Trevin actually got a chance to talk in one of the live shots. They talked about the Living Museum project they had participated in this year and who they chose to do their project on. It was a fun experience and even though it was early, I am glad we decided to go.

Tumbling & Team Revue

Today was our girls' chance to show what they have learned in tumbling this year. It was also the team revue. Each class performed a tumbling routine they have been working on. This is to show off what they have accomplished. Harlee was so cute and so excited. She did such a good job. Brynlee pulled off her round-off backhandspring but landed on her knees. Brynlee was also awarded 1 of 4 tumbling scholarships that were given to those individuals for all their hard work and dedication this year in tumbling. It was definitely a roller coaster year for Brynlee and all of her hard work paid off. There were many night she was come home in tears because she couldn't get her little body to do what she knew in her mind it could accomplish. She never gave up and kept pushing herself until she finally got it. I am so proud of both of my girls.

Preschool Program

Today was Harlee's end of the year program at pre-school. The teacher keeps it really low key and mostly it's just to show off what they have learned this year. Typically, my other kids have just sat there and won't cooperate with the teacher but Harlee, like always, was the exception to that rule. She sang her little heart out and did everything her teacher asked her to do.

Random Kiddos

I have so many pictures of the kids that don't really fit in anywhere by themselves so I will make a post dedicated to the amazing people that I am lucky to call my kids. Somedays I know I really take them for granted but they are truly amazing!

Class Talent Show

Brynlee's class held their own talent show and everyone was required to perform some sort of talent. Brynlee decided to perform "Little White Church". I decided this was a perfect opportunity for her to make sure that she was ready to dance in front of a crowd by herself and she did amazing. I almost started to cry watching her perform all by herself. She is an amazing little girl and I can't wait to see what she can do with her talent.

Las Vegas 2011

The once nice thing about our new dance studio is that we still get to travel to Las Vegas for a dance competition. I think we really look forward to this because the weather is so much nicer. It was 96 degrees the entire weekend. We were able to spend the whole day Friday in the pool and part of the day on Saturday because the dance competition was a short one. We met up with our friends on Friday night and took the kids to the "Rainforest Cafe" and made a trip to the M&M and Coca-Cola store. There compeititon was a little better at this one and we walked away with 1st place for Hip Hop and 2nd place for "Little White Church" as well as best costume. We ended up leaving the boys at home with family friends so that they were still able to play baseball over the weekend and didn't get stuck at the dance competition.
