Jazz Party

Trevin and McKade were invited to a birthday party by a friend of theirs who's dad just happens to work for the Utah Jazz. We know this family through baseball and dance and all the kids have become friends. They party was held at the Jazz Practice Facility and to the surprise of the kids and the parents 3 Jazz players showed up. Gordon Hayward and Jeremy Evans showed up first and even played tornado with the boys. Raja Bell made a quick stop and they all were gracious enough to sign shirts and have their pictures taken with everyone. Trevin said it was the best night of his life!!!

Azurettes Showcase

Brynlee's Jazz team was one of four teams from Synergy to be invited to perform at the Azurette Drill Showcase. Since she was already performing I decided to sign her up for the Azurette Mini Drill Team Workshop. She went for two nights and learned a dance from the girls on the Drill Team and then she also got to perform that dance that night. The show was amazing and Brynlee had so much fun performing.

Medallion Classic

Today marked the beginning of dance competition season. I really worried about my choice of dance studio for Brynlee when we found out we had to make a change. I had nightmares about this. No, I am not a psycho dance mom, but I wanted to make sure I had made the right choice. We had a few options but Synergy seemed to be the best. Luckily, Brynlee has really grown to love Synergy and her teachers. She has made many friends and I have also made a few friends myself. Synergy had an amazing showing at the Medallion Classic. They only had 4 dance that took 2nd place and Brynlee's Jazz team received a Platinum rating-the highest and also took 1st place in for the Overall Beginning Category. Her hip hop team placed 2nd and the studio won the Overall Sweepstakes. It seems as though we made the right choice.

Eyelashes

For dance this year Brynlee has to wear fake eyelashes. Our first attempt at putting these on were disastrous. She freaked out and started crying and then fell right off. I tried to convince her throught the week that they were much easier than mascara and eyeliner and that she really didn't have a choice. If she wanted to dance she had to wear these. We made one last attempt the night before the first competition and after a few tries of trying to get them on perfectly we finally had success. I had her wear them for a couple of hours just to get used to them.

The Surfboard

Grandparent's Day is coming up and Brynlee's class has a big program planned. They are going to dance and sing for the grandparents. She had to make a surfboard for the dancing part of the program.

St. Patrick's Day

This year the Leprechaun decided to make an appearance at our house. He caused a big mess in all of the kids' rooms but was kind enough to leave everyone a treat. Harlee had been talking about how the Leprechaun had been leaving messes and treats at school all week. She was so excited to try and catch the Leprechaun. She didn't think it was so funny that the Leprechaun had invaded her own personal space at home and she was a little freaked out. We ended the evening with green eggs and waffles!

Leprechaun Trap

Brynlee had to make a Leprechaun trap for school. We wanted it to be creative but simple. We came up with a pit full of gold. The Leprechaun follows the glitter up the ramp and at the top he looks over the edge to see all the gold. He jumps in and gets trapped. She had a lot of fun with this.
