Football, Dance and Lots of Fun

Trevin started football this week-the day I have been dreading for months now. Brett hasn't let me go to any practices yet but I get to go tonight because Brett is out of town. I will admit I am a little scared and I will probably watch with my eyes closed. He had a rough night last night because they practiced with their pads on for the first time and he is still in the learning phase so he had a rough time. Brett said that some of the kids hitting him weighed almost 30 pounds more than he does. Wish me luck tonight!
Brynlee had dance try-outs last night-I am a total slacker and forgot to take pictures before she went in. We weren't allowed to watch and we won't know the results until Monday. She is so excited to compete this year and we are all excited to be able to travel to Nationals next June.
On Monday I surprised the kids with a trip to Boondocks. I had a whole bunch of buy-one-get-one-free coupons so I decided to splurge. The kids did bumper boats and miniature golf and we treated ourselves to some yummy pizza and breadsticks for lunch. They had so much fun they want to go everyday now. I have some pictures on my phone but can't figure out how to get them onto the computer so I will post them when I have Brett here to help me figure that out.
We are keeping busy and counting down the weeks until school starts. T-minus 3.2 weeks.

My Growing Girls

I recently took both girls to the Doctor for their well checks. Harlee's was first and she weighed in at a whopping 22lbs 4oz which put her in the 4th percentile for her weight. She was 32 3/4 inches tall and that put her in the 10th Percentile for her height. She is consistently growing so the Dr. had no worries about her being a little small. Harlee only had to have one shot and she didn't even cry-what a big girl. Brynlee's Kindergarten check-up was next. She weighed in at 35lbs and was 42 1/2 inches tall. She was in the 25th percentile for both and the Dr. was very happy with her growth as well. Because this was her Kindergarten check-up she had to have 4 shots and boy was she a trooper. She said she wasn't going to cry but I bet it had to hurt. She screamed until it was over and then she was okay. Dr. gave her the go-ahead for Kindergarten and now she is really excited. Only 5 more long weeks for her to wait patiently. Next up are team try-outs for dance and I will keep you posted.

Birthday Party

Tonight we had a little family get together to celebrate Brynlee's and Harlee's Birthday party. There is nothing better than family. We BBQ'd some hamburgers and hot dogs and had corn on the cob and some yummy salads. Thanks to everyone for bringing food. The girls had a blast and as always were spoiled rotten by gifts from everyone. I am grateful for our families. I can't believe how quickly my girls have grown and I am so grateful to have these sweet spirits in our lives!
Happy Birthday girls-we love you!

Happy 5th Birthday Brynlee

Today our little Brynlee Hope turned 5 and I can't believe how she has grown. She is so excited to start Kindergarten in August and gets really excited everytime we drive past the school and see just a little more progress. She is so smart and so sassy but still has her sweet moments and will climb up on my lap and give me a big bear hug and a big "I love you". We have been working on reading with her and she can already recognize several of the site words and is even able to spell a couple of our names. She was able to celebrate her birthday with a few of her friends at "Jumpin' Jacks" this year. She had a big, long list of people she wanted to invite but I made her narrow it down to six friends. We had pizza and cupcakes and the kids ran around and jumped their little hearts out for 3 hours.

Busy July

So far we have had a very busy July. Trevin is taking classes from Sylvan 3 mornings a week in hopes that he can be finished by the time school starts in August. As long as we don't have to reschedule any more classes he should be finished the Saturday before school starts. He has been a real trooper because I know this hasn't been easy for him. McKade was able to attend a Soccer Camp for three mornings. He loved this. I hope that this was a good opportunity to learn some of the basic skills that he may not have known. He loves soccer and is really good at it. We are looking into having him try out for a competition team next May. Trevin and McKade both had the opportunity to attend Scout Camp this last week. McKade went on Monday and Tuesday and Trevin on Wednesday and Thursday. This was McKade's first year and he loved it. He got to shoot a BB Gun and navigate through an obstacle course. He couldn't stop talking about it. Trevin was able to go canoeing and fishing. They were both very dirty when they got home but had a blast. We have had birthday parties galore and spent many days at the pool trying to keep cool. Only 5 more weeks until school starts.

Happy 2nd Birthday Harlee Bug

My little Harlee Bug turned 2 today. I can't believe how fast she has grown. Since we were up at Cherry Hill we had a small celebration with a few gifts and some cupcakes. She is such a sweet girl and she is getting so smart. Everytime we asked her what she wanted for her birthday she would say, "A bike, Ming Ming and Dora". She got a bike and a couple of Dora things with a few more to come when we celebrate both of the girl's birthday. Happy Birthday Harlee Bug, we love you.

Cherry Hill 2009

We are back from our annual trip to Cherry Hill. I am exhausted and glad to be back in my air conditioned house. We all had a blast, especially the kids. Trevin was so happy to be able to have Alex and Preston there the entire weekend and it's so nice that the boys are finally old enough to do their own thing. We had a lot of laughs and ate a lot of junk food. The kids swam their hearts out too. Since we ended up going a little later this year the kids were out of school so we were able to spend an extra day and went up on Thursday instead of Friday. This left all day Friday for swimming and more swimming and then we played on the waterslide all day Saturday. The kids were more than happy with the prizes they got from the auction. I vote for Cherry Hill for next year. Let's keep the tradition going.

Glitter Toes

Amy had a glitter toe party tonight and now our toes look awesome for Cherry Hill this weekend.
I let Brynlee get hers done for her birthday but I forgot to take pictures of her sitting there so patiently while her toes got all prettied up. Here are pictures of the finished products-my toes, Brynlee, Joanie, Erin and Sydney.

The Gateway Fountains

Because we have such a long summer break this year I have tried to come up with things to keep us busy without costing a lot of money. We always love the Fountains at the Gateway so I think we are going to try and make it a weekly thing this summer. It was Kelly's idea and a good one at that. We packed up our lunches and drinks and snacks galore and let the kids run wild in the water for 4 hours while we chatted the day away. There's nothing better than a summer day with good friends.

The Bees Game and Fireworks

Since we have our season pass to the Bee's we decided we would take advantage and go to a baseball game on the 4th of July. What's better than baseball and fireworks to celebrate our independence? The game was really crowded. We were like sardines all piled together on the grass. The game went into 12 innings and the fireworks didn't start until 11:30. Let's say that the kids had enough and the adult's patience was wearing very thin. We did have a lot of laughs though, McKade's gum behind his ear and cotton candy everywhere. The fireworks were awesome even though Harlee, Brynlee and McKade slept through most of them. We all have our sunglasses on because ash was falling out of the sky into our eyes as we watched the fireworks. It was fun to be able to hang out outside and let the kids run and enjoy the night. Happy 4th of July!!!

West Jordan 4th of July Parade

We have been wanting to do this for quite a few years but have always put it off. This year we decided to bite the bullet, get up early and take the kids to the parade. They had a blast. They caught a bunch of candy, ate a whole bunch of popsicles, had water squirted at them several times and wore themselves out. Luckily, it was a very overcast morning and didn't really get too hot until the end of the parade. I think this will be a new annual tradition for us, only next year, I am going to run in the 5K before hand.

The 3rd of July

Every year South Salt Lake has their Independence Day Celebration on the 3rd of July. This year Denice decided that everyone needed to join in on the fun. She had a BBQ at her house and then we headed over to Granite High School to meet up with my family while the Ruoti/Sainsbury/Luft family stuck around Denice's and watched the fireworks from there. We had a lot of yummy food, fun conversation and the kids did some Slip N' Sliding too. I think we may have to make this an annual tradition because it was so much fun. Check out Brett's new look-23 Pounds lighter and still losing!!!
