Mustaches

This is what Brett's new job is all about. Looks like they have way too much time on their hands.

Decisions Decisions

Brynlee has been taking a tumbling class at her dance studion since September. Most recently she has become very interested in tumbling and can throw down a pretty awesome cartwheel-for a 4 year old anyway. I decided that we would actually put her in a gymnastics class at a gym and see how she liked that. Yesterday at her gymnastics class her teacher took her down to the big floor and asked her to do a couple of things. When she brought her back upstairs she told me she would explain all of that in a little bit. She brought me over a piece of paper and said that Brynlee was being invited to join the 4 year old TOPS team at the gym. She will have class two days a week. This is a fast track for strengthening and pushing the basic skills on the kids. I was so torn because Brynlee also loves dance and has her little heart set on trying out for the "Minis" team for next year. After much prayer and a lot of discussion with Brynlee we have decided that for now she will do both. If it becomes too overwhelming and too much stress for her then we will probably drop gymnastics and continue with dance. I hate having to make these kinds of decisions for my kiddos. I hope that I am making the right one and that she is happy. I didn't think that at the young age of 4 she would be thrown right into it but I guess that all we can do is go with the flow for now. Wish us luck!!!

Happy Un-Birthday, Park Day and Preschool Graduation

Wow have we been busy the last couple of days. On Monday Brynlee celebrated her Un-Birthday with her preschool class. Unfortunately she won't ever be in school for her birthday but was still able to celebrate with her preschool friends. She chose a "Put the Bracelet on Dora" game to play and we asked Pa to drop off some yummy Dunford Donuts for her to share with her class. She had a blast and the kids are so cute and so fun. Everything went off with perfect ease and Brynlee was as happy as could be. Today was her "Park Day" for preschool. Of course, it was freezing and really windy this morning. Park Day must go on and it did. The kids ran around and played and even threw water balloons at each other (only at their feet). All of these fun activities were topped off by Preschool Graduation tonight. I am so proud of Bryn and how well she sang. She is quite the performer. When Brynlee grows up she wants to be a Veterinarian so she can take care of puppies. I told her she could be anything she set her mind to. I can't believe my little girl is going to be starting Kindergarten in a few short months. Where has the time gone?

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY

Another year, another Mother's Day. It's kind of hard to express my feelings about this day mostly because my relationship with my mom isn't the typical one. I never imagined that being a mom would change my life the way it has. I have learned unconditional love and a love so strong that it hurts sometimes. I cry when they cry and laugh when they laugh (most of the time!). I would give anything to make sure my kids have their needs met. I hope that I can develop and sustain a relationship with my kids-one that I wasn't able to share with my mom. Brett and the kids always take care of me on Mother's Day and this year was no exception. I am not a big breakfast person so that was kind of out of the question. Brett did get me my bowl down and pour my Frosted Flakes for me though! I got the cutest card from Bryn with a poem-something she made at preschool. McKade painted a cute Terra Cotta pot with a wooden flower and made me the sweetest card. Trevin didn't have a chance to make anything for me but shared never ending hugs and kisses with me that day. I know Harlee loves me because she stands between my legs and screams while I am making dinner. Brett over did himself this year with the best Garden Gnome ever-NOT! This was a huge joke. He kept threatening me with a Garden Gnome and he finally did it. This may have to make it's way back to his possession in a couple of weeks in the form of a birthday present for him. Two can play at this game. That wasn't all. He gave me a gift card for the Oakley Vault in Park City so I can go get my super stylin' Oakley's that I have had my eyes on. Can't wait-I am going to pick them out in time for our upcoming vacation. Happy Mother's Day to all those people who have influenced my life-Love you guys!

The Race for the Cure

Today was the day of the big race. For me this was baby steps on to bigger and better things. I wanted to start out with something that I could wrap my head around and not be totally overwhelmed. Yes, this was a 5K but with no pressure. It was for a good cause and wasn't a timed event, though they did have a clock at the finish line so you were able to see what your time was. I didn't have much of a chance to get out and run this week because of time constraints but I felt good this morning. Terra, Adrian and I headed out at the very early hour of 6:15 to the Trax station so we didn't have to fight traffic downtown. It was a whopping 39 degrees this morning and it was cold. We walked around hitting the free booths trying to stay warm. We were directed to the starting line along with the 20,000 people and the race began. The first five minutes were more of a cattle call than anything but I was too impatient and headed to the sidewalk to start running. 33 minutes later I crossed the finish line and now I am able to say that I completed a marathon. The sense of accomplishment was amazing and I am definitely hooked. I am so grateful that we were able to run for such a good cause and I am definitely grateful that breast cancer has not hit that close to home (knock on wood). I am looking forward to many other marathons in the near future. I will post pics as soon as Adrian post the pics and I can steal them from her.

The Salt Lake Bees

The Bees finally had a home game on a night with some beautiful Spring Weather. We had a few things going on like baseball and soccer practice but after some discussion with the kids we decided that we would finally put our Family Pass to use. It was so much fun. We walked into the Ballpark and it was pretty much empty. I guess that is baseball on a Wednesday night in Utah. Our pass is only for the grassy area but because there were so many empty seats we found an empty section and sat there so the kids could have their space. Harlee was an angel and wandered up and down the steps in our section and clapped for the game every so often. Once Brynlee got the whining out of her system she had fun too. The boys got two balls that the outfielders had thrown in and they were in heaven. Towards the end of the game we headed down to the 1st row and the boys were in awe of how close to the field we were. I already know that the pass was money well spent. What is better than a night at the ball park with those you love best.

Harlee's Owie!

I was sitting at the computer working away-or at least trying to while Harlee keeps pushing the keyboard tray in. Brett is outside in the back mowing the grass and Harlee is bored and wants me to be done working so we can play. She hears Brynlee come into the house and immediately heads to the stairs to see her sister. Halfway up Brynlee thought it would be pretty funny to throw a full sippy cup directly at her sister's face. I heard the thud and the scream that followed. What I also heard was the patter of footsteps as Brynlee took off for the back door. Luckily I am pretty quick on my feet these days and caught up to her. She was laughing-what an evil child. Needless to say she spent the rest of the night in her room and Harlee was no worse for the wear except a big goose egg on her head. I thought for sure her eye would swell up and turn black but the next morning it looked a lot better. Poor Harlee Bug-all she wants to do is play.
