Gotta Move

We had our 2nd to last dance competition today at Provo High School. It was a long drive for a long day. Brynlee was up with a fever the night before and wasn't feeling all that great competition day. Luckily I was able to talk my mom into tagging along with me. Brynlee danced at 2:30 and then not again until 7:00. Needless to say, it wasn't their best performance and they walked away with a 1st place finish for Hip Hop and a 2nd place finish for "Little White Church" but they also received "Best Showmanship". It took Bryn a couple of days to fully recover but now she is back to her dancing self.

Happy Easter

The kids woke up to some small gifts and an Easter basket full of goodies from the Easter bunny. After Sacrament meeting we headed to my dad's house for our traditional Holiday breakfast. The kids had an Easter Egg hunt and we were actually able to come home for a bit and take a short nap. We headed to Gram's house for dinner and another Easter Egg hunt. I love that the holidays are getting easier and more enjoyable.

Coloring Eggs

We continued our tradition of coloring Easter Eggs and stuffing the plastic eggs for the kids to hunt the next day. I love that it's getting so much easier to do all these fun activities with the kids. I actually get to sit back and relax and watch the kids enjoying themselves.

Grandparent's Day

I forgot to post about this one but back at the beginning of April Brynlee's class had a Grandparent's Day. The kids put on a program and then the grandparents had to get up and share something about their past. Brynlee wanted her Pa Cromer to come and they had so much fun dancing and doing the Hokey Pokey.

Accelerated Baseball

Someday, if it ever starts raining I might actually be able to post about the boys accelerated baseball games. McKade is playing on the Copper Hills 10U team and Trevin is on the Copper Hills 12U team. They were able to each get 2 games in on Saturday. McKade's team lost their 1st game but won their 2nd game 16-1. McKade got two awesome hits and I was super proud of him. We got done at the dance competition just in time to see them each play their last 2 games. Because Brett is the coach of Trevin's team I didn't spend much time watching Trevin play because I didn't want McKade to feel bad. Trevin's team ended up winning both of their games and at the end of the day we were all exhausted.

Rocky Mountain Classic

Today was the 3rd of five dance competitions this year. We were back at SLCC again. Brynlee's teams looked so good today and after all was said and done they walked away with two 1st place finishes and overall, Synergy dominated again.

Spring Break

This year the kids had one whole week off for Spring Break. For some reason the school scheduled this before Easter and when no one else was out of school. Thanks to the crazy Utah weather this year the week was cold and snowy. Because of the crazy weather I had to find several things to do inside. I took the kids to two movies. We saw, "Diary of a Wimpy Kid 2" and "Hop". My mom was gracious enough to take all of us to the Living Planet Aquarium one day too. We had a lot of fun and by the end of the week I was exhausted and ready for the kids to go back to school.

Life

Life is crazy at our house. We have 4 kids going in different directions all at the same time. Trevin is playing on 2 baseball teams this year, juggling 6th grade homework and he started umpiring some games at the baseball field so he could start saving up for a car. I was a little nervous about him umpiring. I know how mean those parents can be if they don't get the call that they like. So far, he has only called the 7 year old games and he has done so well. He has gotten so many compliments from people and Brett said he is loud and in charge which is how he should be. My 12 year old baby is not such a baby anymore-is he? McKade is also playing on 2 baseball teams and juggling 4th grade homework. He usually ends up with more homework than anyone but he walks in the door and sits right down in the kitchen with his books out. Brynlee is dancing 5 hours a week as well as juggling her homework. She has 30 spelling words a week and brings home math worksheets with multiplication and division on them. Holy crap, she is in 1st grade. She amazes me everyday with what she can do. After months of tears and frustration at tumbling, she finally got her round-off back handspring all by herself. Watching her now, you would never know there were any tears or frustration at all. She is extremely confident and very stubborn. Her tumbling teacher said she finally did it because she didn't want to be put in the lower front walkover group for their tumbling routine. Yes, I did say she is very stubborn. Harlee is still my crazy girl but is developing a love for tumbling and she is doing very well. She is loving preschool and is learning more and more every day.

The kids brought their report cards home yesterday and I am so proud. Trevin got 2 A's, 2 B+'s and 2 B's. McKade got 3 A's and 1 A- and Brynlee has mastered everything taught in 1st grade so far. She is also in the 70's club. This means that she passed off all 70 phonograms that she needs to know to move out of 1st grade. There are only 5 kids in her class that have done this so far and she was the 3rd.

Where is mom and dad in all of this. We are just trying to hang on. Brett found out that he will be traveling more for work which means a heavier load for me but no worries, we have plenty of people willing to help and we keep trudging along.

Baseball

I haven't talked much about baseball because truthfully, I am not really that involved in it this year. With Brett being the President of the league, he spends so much time in baseball that the boys are always just tagging along and that takes a lot of the weight off of my shoulders. The boys are both playing this year and this year, the league has added an Accelerated Baseball team which is the best of the best players from each age group put together to form a "Superleague" team. Both Trevin and McKade made the team for their age division so this means twice the baseball and more scheduling chaos for mom and dad. I love to watch how they grow and excel each year. McKade has become quite the baseball player and maybe he will finally find a sport that is all his. Way to go boys!!!! Play Ball!

Dance Spectacular

Today was our 2nd dance competition of the season. I had to face this one by myself which meant a 45 minute long drive to Roy with just Bryn and I. This actually ended up to our benefit. It's not often that Bryn gets mom time and this was perfect. Brett was with the boys at various baseball activities and Denice willingly took Harlle for the day. She danced and then we took a long lunch with her BFF Cambree and her mom. It really broke up the long dance day. Synergy showed total domination again at this competition and did one better this time with only three 2nd place finishes and the Overall Studio award again. Brynlee's Jazz team took 1st place and her Hip Hop team took 2nd again. Way to go Synergy!
