Life

Life is crazy at our house. We have 4 kids going in different directions all at the same time. Trevin is playing on 2 baseball teams this year, juggling 6th grade homework and he started umpiring some games at the baseball field so he could start saving up for a car. I was a little nervous about him umpiring. I know how mean those parents can be if they don't get the call that they like. So far, he has only called the 7 year old games and he has done so well. He has gotten so many compliments from people and Brett said he is loud and in charge which is how he should be. My 12 year old baby is not such a baby anymore-is he? McKade is also playing on 2 baseball teams and juggling 4th grade homework. He usually ends up with more homework than anyone but he walks in the door and sits right down in the kitchen with his books out. Brynlee is dancing 5 hours a week as well as juggling her homework. She has 30 spelling words a week and brings home math worksheets with multiplication and division on them. Holy crap, she is in 1st grade. She amazes me everyday with what she can do. After months of tears and frustration at tumbling, she finally got her round-off back handspring all by herself. Watching her now, you would never know there were any tears or frustration at all. She is extremely confident and very stubborn. Her tumbling teacher said she finally did it because she didn't want to be put in the lower front walkover group for their tumbling routine. Yes, I did say she is very stubborn. Harlee is still my crazy girl but is developing a love for tumbling and she is doing very well. She is loving preschool and is learning more and more every day.

The kids brought their report cards home yesterday and I am so proud. Trevin got 2 A's, 2 B+'s and 2 B's. McKade got 3 A's and 1 A- and Brynlee has mastered everything taught in 1st grade so far. She is also in the 70's club. This means that she passed off all 70 phonograms that she needs to know to move out of 1st grade. There are only 5 kids in her class that have done this so far and she was the 3rd.

Where is mom and dad in all of this. We are just trying to hang on. Brett found out that he will be traveling more for work which means a heavier load for me but no worries, we have plenty of people willing to help and we keep trudging along.

You are doing an excellent job obviously of balancing all the things your kids love with the thing they HAVE to do-school. It takes a committed caring, loving parent to make that work and you guys are doing a fantastic job!! Good job!
