My Dilemma

Here is my dilemma. I have a 2 1/2 year old who shows signs of being ready to potty train but me, the mom, has no desire to do so. It's so much easier to carry a diaper bag around and change her laying on the floor in the car than to have to run to the ever so disgusting public restroom every time we are out somewhere. I have tried on numerous occasions to start potty training but then change my mind because it's just too much work. She is creeping up on 3 here people and she already knows that before she can start pre-school she has to "pee pee in the potty" but what does a 2 year old do when mom is standing in her way? One day-hopefully soon I will have the patience to take one week and work with her all week so that 11 1/2 years later we can finally be done with diapers.

Jazz Player Appearance

Every year as part of the Jr. Jazz program the kids are able to go and have a Jazz player talk to them. This year the player was Paul Millsap. Trevin didn't want to go and pouted the whole time so we actually went for McKade's sake. There are always a million people and the chance that you may get to go out on the floor is very slim. We got some pretty decent seats and McKade actually got the chance-twice, to go out on the floor with Paul Millsap. The player is a surprise until you actually get there. McKade wears Paul Millsap's number on his Jr. Jazz jersey and when they called all those down that had the #24 on McKade's face lit up. They went down on the floor and did some basketball drills and then sent them back to their seats. The 2nd time they called for all the 3rd and 4th graders to go back out onto the floor for some more drills. McKade was in heaven and I am glad we made the trek downtown even if Trevin was upset.

Discovery Gateway

The kids had the day off of school because of Martin Luther King Day. Because they don't go off track anymore I feel like when they have a day off we should get out and do something fun. We have never been down to Discovery Gateway and I had a coupon so we ventured that way today. The kids were a little apprehensive at first. I don't think they realized they got to touch and play with everything. We played for a little while and then walked over to the food court for some lunch and then went back and played a little while longer. The kids loved it and I have to admit that I had a good time too. It was great to get out of the house and still be indoors where it was warm for some good fun. Though it is a little pricey I highly recommend it.

Brynlee's New Do

We have been growing Brynlee's hair out for over a year but I finally got tired of it. We decided to cut it but still keep it long enough because she has to be able to pull it back in a low ponytail for dance. I think it makes her look like a cute little 5 year old again!

January

January is so boring I don't even really have anything to blog about. We have been keeping busy with homework, Jr. Jazz Basketball and dance. The 2nd Term just ended at school and I am ecstatic to report that after all the blood, sweat and tears Trevin brought his grades up. He got a "B+" in Math, an "A" in Language Arts and a "B" in Science. I couldn't be happier about this. This is such an improvement for him over last term. It shows that hard work really pays off. Much to McKade's dismay he didn't end up with straight A's and let me tell you-he was pretty upset about it. He ended up with a "B+" in Math, an "A" in Language Arts and an "A" in Social Studies. He wanted to be on the High Honor Roll so he could have his picture in the hall. I explained to him that he will just have to work a little harder next time like Trevin did this time and he will be able to get straight A's. The boys are staying busy with Jr. Jazz Basketball which is winding down now. They always have fun playing and it's not competitive so it's just a fun way to get some exercise in the winter time. Brynlee's dance studio is heading into competition season now so she gets to add one more day of practice to her already busy dance schedule. I am so excited for competitions to start-probably even more than she is.

Well-there's an update-no pics and a little bit boring. Stay tuned for pictures from the Ice Cream dinner that the kids earned for their good grades.

Oh January

Oh January. Why do you have to be so long, cold and boring? The excitement of Christmas is over. The bitter air is unhealthy to breathe and the days are very long. The very thought of moving somewhere warm is looking better and better everyday. If only we could get through January. The months ahead hold the promise of more activities to fill our days. Right now we busy ourselves with hours of homework at night and a lot of mind numbing television. One day we will be wealthy enough to buy a 2nd home somewhere warm so I can get out of this cold for good.

Sledding 2010

Today was our annual New Year's Day sledding adventure and the kids didn't let us forget. We headed out to Amy's house. There wasn't as much snow as in year's past but we still had a blast. We even including Harlee in the adventure this year. It was her first time and I wasn't sure how she would do but she absolutely LOVED it. After we would get to the bottom of the hill she would jump up and say, "Do it again". I couldn't believe how brave she was and even went down on the sled by herself once. Afterwards we crashed at Amy's and had soup and too much junk food (thanks Denice) and let the kids run around. Thanks to Amy for being such a gracious hostess and now we face the dilemma of finding somewhere to crash next year in hopes that Amy is successful in selling her house. At least we have a year to figure it out. Happy New Year's-here's to a better 2010.
