Wheeler Farm

Brynlee's preschool class took a field trip to Wheeler Farm today. She had so much fun running around with all her little friends and looking at all the animals. Harlee even got in on the action a little bit. I think Brynlee's favorite part was feeding the ducks. She kept reminding me to bring bread for the ducks and guess what? I forgot. Luckily some of the other moms remembered and there was plenty to go around. There's nothing better than Wheeler Farm on a gorgeous end of September day!!!

Gardner Village

For Family Night we decided to take the kids down to Gardner Village to see the Witches. I don't think we have ever been down there at this time of year. I've been meaning to go every year so this year we finally did. They had fun running around looking at all the different witches. We gave Harlee some freedom and she never looked back. She loved wandering around chasing after the big kids and she actually liked the witches too. I was worried she might be scared because she is terrified of anything Halloween in the stores. It was a beautiful September evening and I am glad we were able to get out and enjoy some nice weather before winter sets in.

Primary Program

Our Primary had their Primary Program today. I just love seeing these sweet spirits sing about Heavenly Father and Jesus. Both the boys had parts that they had to memorize and successfully recited them. The Sunbeam's-Brynlee's Class-had to sing the first verse of "Tell me the Stories of Jesus". Brynlee stole the show. They stood on the front row of the stands and she was the only one you could hear singing. Her and McKade have been singing the song for weeks and I couldn't believe she was up there singing her heart out. The Primary did an amazing job and they always seem to pull it off-even with all those kids.

I Am Too Tired

After getting Bryn off to school this morning I had an appointment to go visiting teaching. Harlee had done nothing but cry all morning. I don't know if she is teething or what but she has been so grumpy lately. After we got home from visiting teaching I was running around changing laundry and hanging up clothes. I had run downstairs to get some hangers from the boy's closet and she was awfully quiet upstairs. When I came upstairs this is what I found. She had fallen asleep on the floor in the middle of the hallway. Sleep tight Harlee Bug!!!

Soccer

Yeah-I know that's what it says-Soccer. McKade decided that this year he wanted to play Soccer instead of Flag Football. He has been asking for a while to play Soccer. The two little boys across the street play Soccer and then Tyson decided that he was going to play this year. That was it-McKade was going to play Soccer. Brett tried to talk him out of it but his mind was made up. Despite not having played before he is actually pretty good. He played goalie on Saturday and didn't let one point get by him. He looks like he is having fun while he plays and I guess that is all that matters-right?

Flag Football

It's that time again. It's football season. We tried to talk Trevin into playing tackle football but he wasn't too interested and with it being a little pricey I decided that he needed to really want to play before I shelled out that kind of money. We got him signed up on the team with all of the kids in our ward. So far they have lost one game and won the other four. This last Saturday Trevin played a game that made Brett proud. The kids on the other team were having a problem keeping their hands to themselves. In Flag Football there is no contact allowed except to grab the flag from their waist. The kid that Trevin was blocking against forgot the no contact rule and after Trevin pushed him away several times he finally got tired of it and threw a shoulder and knocked the kid to the ground and made him cry. Daddy was proud. After that he caught a pass to make the extra point after the touchdown and then a few plays later he caught an interception and got the team closer to a touchdown. I love to see his face after he has played a game like that. I know it is a self-esteem booster for him to know that he can play well. We love you little football man!!!

Seattle 2008

With Brett being in Seattle for training for his new job we decided that this would be the perfect opportunity for a little getaway for me. Besides, the hotel room was already paid for so we didn't have to worry about that and it was just for the weekend. Once I got looking into it we decided that airfare was just too expensive and it probably wasn't going to happen. One Sunday I just happened to be telling one of my neighbors this at Church-she had offered to watch my kids-when my visiting teacher piped in that she has a buddy pass that I could have. I felt a little guilty in accepting this just because I wasn't looking for a handout but she was totally genuine in offering this to me and I am eternally grateful to her for that. I was able to get a babysitter lined up for the weekend thanks to my neighbors who helped out and of course to Aunt Denice who took on four kids for three whole days.
The trip was awesome and Seattle is beautiful. It was so nice to have a kid free weekend although I will admit that I really missed them. Friday night we ate at this restaurant that sits out on top of the water. We sat out on what was probably a deck and were able to watch the ferry go in and out taking people across to an island. Watching the sunset over the water was amazing. The place was called Ivar's and yes it was a fish restaurant but Brett and I were able to get chicken. On Saturday we set out and spent the day in downtown Seattle. We visited Pike Place Market, The Space Needle and probably walked about 10 miles that day. On Sunday we played lazy and went to a movie. It was nice to be able to spend some quiet time together with no worries about getting back to the kids to get them into bed. Thanks babe for all you do for us. This weekend was awesome and I can't wait to do it again-hopefully soon. I love you!!!

September 11

Where were you on September 11? This is a day that none of us will ever forget and I don't think I will ever forget what I was doing that morning. I had taken up residence on the couch due to the lovely snoring that was taking place beside me every night and the fact that my almost 7 month old baby boy was not yet sleeping through the night. This was before Brett got his breathing machine(I love you honey). For some reason I had the TV on and Brett had just come downstairs to head out to work for the day. I remember looking at the TV just as the 2nd plane hit the World Trade Center and I couldn't believe what I was seeing. At that time the people on the news were still under the impression that the 1st plane was a total random act but then the 2nd plane hit. Brett headed off to work only to be sent home early but I headed to my in-laws where we were glued to the TV for the rest of the day. I remember looking at the faces of my two baby boys and knowing that their world was forever changed. That night as we drove home the sky was so dark. We are used to seeing several planes at any moment lighting up the sky so it was sort of an eery feeling. I had a hard time sleeping that night and ended up in bed with my snoring husband. I have to admit that I was scared and didn't want to be alone.
Trevin and McKade were asking questions today about what happened and said that they had a moment of silence at school today. It's crazy to know that this is history that they will learn about one day while we lived in that very moment.
Thanks to all the men and women who have sacrificed for our freedom. Land of the free and home of the brave!!!!

Dance Like No One's Watching

Brynlee started her new dance class today. I really debated about putting her back in Becky's School of Dance but after the summer session I wasn't to impressed. I had looked at a couple of places and then Terra told me about Star's. I know their reputation because my very best friend growing up was a part of Star's. I had kind of forgotten about even looking into it until Erin made Mini Star's. I decided that we would give it a try. Brynlee is in the 3-5yr Ballet/Jazz class and then she is also going to take a 4-7yr tumbling class. Tonight was her first night of class and she loved it. Her teacher is so cute and she actually went into class all by herself without having shed a tear. GO STARS!!!

Which Disney Princess Are You?

I saw this on Terra's blog and thought I would give it a try!!!

You Are Aurora! (A.K.A. Sleeping Beauty.)

Thoughtful and loving. Authority figures probably have been sheltering you all of your life. Thankfully you're a very tranquil person who is content with what life has given you, but secretly you want to know how the outside world works.

90210

I know, I know. I am probably a little old for this now but I absolutely loved the original 90210 when I was in high school. When I saw that they were re-doing the show I was a little intrigued and wanted to find out what they were going to do with it. I will have to admit that I was really hooked and can't wait for the show next week. Tune in on Tuesdays to the WB. I think it is on at 7:00. They brought back a few favorites and the Peach Pit is still running strong. You will have to let me know what you think about the new show.

She's a Walker

Harlee finally figured it out. She is walking everywhere now. I can't believe how overnight she just decided it was finally time to get up and chase the kids. Maybe she thinks she will have a better chance of catching them that way.
